Employees Only My Butt

I’ve just recently discovered the secret of La Esquina: the real La Esquina is behind the the “Employees Only” door. I’ve been there a couple of times. I’ve noticed rather fancy SoHo-ites emerging from the door and thought something was off. My suspicions proved correct when recently researching the internet. I found out that there is a secret posh labyrinth behind the branded door, reserved exclusively for the Rich and/or Beautiful.

I’ve never like being told what I can or can’t do.

Goal: Pass off as a SoHo-ite and get into the underground La Esquina

Back in the Day

My Top Favorite Black & White Movies (in no particular order):

A Patch of Blue
Some Like It Hot
The Philadelphia Story
The Miracle Worker
A Streetcar Named Desire
The Apartment
Sunset Boulevard

Wow, I could have sworn I’ve seen more. Oh wait, I have, but I just didn’t like them so much.

Complete (as far as I know) List of all Black & White Movies I’ve seen:
[addendum to the list above]

All About Eve
The Defiant Ones
The Best Years of Our Lives
Psycho
Lilies of the Field
To Kill a Mockingbird
It Happened One Night
Plan 9 from Outer Space
Young Frankenstein
La Grande Illusion

Well that’s all I can think of at the moment. I’m sure there are more, but I can’t recall. I know, it’s sad: the list should be longer.

Hindsight

We have this old black and white photo of my maternal grandfather in his youth that has been around since before I was born. I’ve always stared at the picture and imagined how different life would have been if he hadn’t died before I was born. He was a highly decorated officer of the Korean Army and worked with internal affairs. My mom often tells me he would’ve have loved me and spoiled me rotten if he were still alive. But I digress.

As I passed by the photograph today, like I do nearly everyday, I noticed something new; I realized my grandfather’s eyes are uneven. His right eyes is visibly higher than his left eye by maybe a centimeter or so. After nearly 20 years of staring at his picture, how did I miss this?

Musou to the Max

I’ve been playing Dynasty Warriors 5 for the past few days. Addicted. I loved DW4 and now my friend got a ps2 and DW5, so I’ve been pretty occupied with that lately.

Fave: Da Qiao. Best crowd-control attacks. EVER.

I went to Panama City, FL and all I got were 41 lousy bug bites.

Hookers in the City

I was watching Sex in the City on TBS last night for lack of better programming. My grandfather, who doesn’t know a lick of English, comes in and sits down to watch with me.

A few moments into the show, he asks in Korean,

“Are those girls hookers?”

I couldn’t stop laughing at the irony.

Oh, I love old people.
